The liberals dominated the Indian National Congress from 1885 to 1905. They were Indians but in reality they were British in their choice, intelligence, thought and morality. He believed in patience, moderation, agreements and meetings.
AO Hume, WC Banerjee, Surendranath Banerjee, Dadabhai Naoroji, Ferozeshah Mehta, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Badruddin Tayyab ji, Justice Ranade, G. Subramaniam Iyer etc. were the leaders of the first phase of the national movement. They were called liberals because they used petitions, speeches, and articles to get allegiance from the British and openly displayed allegiance to the British Raj.
