Individual Satyagraha was the result of the August Resolution. It started as a mass civil disobedience movement but Mahatma Gandhi converted it into an individual Satyagraha. This movement was not only for getting freedom but the right of expression was also presented strongly in it. Congress once again asked to take over in late 1940s and it turned into a mass movement with a broad strategic outlook.

Objectives of Individual Satyagraha
- To show that the patience of the nationalists is not due to their weakness
- To express public sentiment, that is, to state that the people are not interested in war and that it makes no distinction between Nazism and the dual autocracy by which India is being ruled
- Providing one more chance to the government to peacefully accept the demands of the Congress
In this, the demand of the Satyagrahi was to use the freedom of expression to oppose the war through an anti-war declaration. If the Satyagrahi is not arrested by the government, he will march through the villages towards Delhi movement). The focus of individual Satyagraha was non-violence which could be achieved only through selection of Satyagrahis. Acharya Vinoba Bhave, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Brahm Dutt were the first, second and third selected Satyagrahis respectively.
